How To Install Sound-absorbing Wall Panels?

Apr 10, 2026

The installation method for sound-absorbing panels on walls mainly includes the following steps:
1. Substrate Preparation: Ensure the wall surface is flat, dry, and free of oil stains. If necessary, use putty to level the surface. The flatness error should be less than 3mm/2m.

2. Marking and Positioning: Mark the installation position of the sound-absorbing panels with ink lines according to the design drawings. The horizontal and vertical deviations should be controlled within ±2mm.
3. Adhesive Application: Use environmentally friendly construction adhesive (such as polyurethane adhesive) or a special keel for fixing. The recommended adhesive thickness is 3-5mm, using a spot-bonding method (at least 6 points per panel).
4. Panel Installation: Install panels one by one from bottom to top, pressing lightly to ensure adhesion to the wall. Leave a 2-3mm gap between panels to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction.
5. Joint Treatment: Fill the gaps with sound-absorbing sealant. The surface can be covered with sound-absorbing non-woven fabric to enhance the effect.

Precautions: In humid environments, a moisture-proof layer must be applied first. Construction should be suspended when the relative humidity exceeds 70%. - Safety belts must be worn when working at heights. Metal framing is required for panels weighing over 20kg/m².
- Dust masks must be worn when cutting panels to prevent fiber inhalation.

Extended Applications:
- Theaters/Recording Studios: Requires a rear cavity design (50-100mm) to enhance low-frequency sound absorption.
- Industrial Plants: A composite fixing method using bolts and angle steel is recommended for vibration resistance.
- Home Theaters: Decorative sound-absorbing panels can be directly snap-on for installation.
